Dear Parent/ Carer
Well, the end of this academic year has finally come to a close! It has definitely been an eventful year, with a lot of ups, and some downs, but I feel honoured to have been chosen to lead the school through them, firstly in an interim position, and now as the substantive principal for the future. I want to thank my amazing staff for their hard work and support; their dedication enabled our continuous improvement and led us to our Good Ofsted judgment last half term.
There is also one final staffing change that I have held back until now. After nine years of impeccable service to the school as a senior leader, Dr Craig has decided to start his journey towards a well-deserved future (but not right now) retirement. As part of this process, Dr Craig has decided to step down from his role as vice principal, to return in the new academic year as the head of history. Whilst he will have a new role, I am delighted that we are able to retain his encyclopaedic knowledge of the school, its history and its community.
I want to thank Dr Craig for everything he has done for the school and its students as a senior leader and thank him doubly for agreeing to stay and lead one of our amazing curriculum departments.
Finally, I would like to wish everyone a safe, and restful summer break and I look forward to seeing you again in September.

We were delighted to celebrate the Principal Commendations over the last three weeks. This award sees two students nominated by their tutors, recognising many of the following elements: attitude to learning, kindness, progress, for representing the school, being a wonderful ambassador to the tutor group or school and numbers of house points to name but a few.
Year 6 into 7 Transition Events
This week we welcomed our new Year 7 students and families to St Ivo Academy during their transition events. On Monday, students met their new form teacher and experienced three taster lessons to gain an insight into Academy life. On Monday evening we were delighted to welcome so many parents and carers to discuss the next steps for their child in September. On Tuesday, the Year 6 pupils took part in a wide range of indoor sporting activities in their new forms. Well done to all students taking part with such enthusiasm – a particular shout out to 7SHL who were very worthy winners!
Mr Porter and Mrs Nestor would like to thank all staff involved, as well as our Year 11 & 12 student helpers, who were instrumental in ensuring the days ran smoothly for all. We very much appreciate the students who volunteered to help us.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming our Year 7 students to St Ivo in September!
Timetables 2024-25
We are aware that some students and parents are now seeing timetables on Bromcom and wanted to clarify the setting arrangements for Years 7 to 9. In these year groups, sets M1 and S1 are top set, followed by M2 and S2, then N1 and S3 (S3 in Year 8 only), then N2 and T1, then N3 and T2.
Summer homework – Years 10 and 12
Students currently in Years 10 and 12 have been given summer homework by teachers. Any homework set should remain “live” on Bromcom until the 31st August. On 1st September, Bromcom will rollover to a new academic year and the homework will no longer be available, so please ask students to check before then.
Uniform
Please ensure all orders with Chroma are placed by Monday 5 August to ensure delivery in time for September. If you order uniform for collection in school, this will be available on Thursday 22 August, between 10am and 1pm.
A reminder that students wanting to wear longer leg wear on PE/Dance days, need to purchase the track pants or leggings from Chroma.
Full details of uniform can be found at Uniform – Astrea St Ivo
