Dear Parent/ Carer
This week’s newsletter is a slightly shorter edition, reflecting the slightly shorter week. Thank you for your understanding regarding today’s training day. It has been an excellent opportunity for staff to come together and really invigorate the new Year 7 curriculum for next year.
The other topics covered in this week’s newsletter are contact details for the Parent Advisory Council (PAC), a link to a document about our new catering provider from September 2024, and definitive information about when the new school ties will be swapped.
Parent Advisory Council (PAC) email
An email address for parents and carers to contact the PAC has been set up to allow you to raise issues or provide feedback on topics that will be on the next meeting agenda. The email address is pac@astreastivo.org and all emails received will be shared with the PAC in advance of their next scheduled meeting.
The next meeting of the PAC will be on Wednesday 10 July 2024, and the main topic of discussion at that meeting will be the school’s behaviour policy and any changes we would like to make in readiness for September 2024. If you would like to feed into this discussion, please feel free to use the email address to give your views.
New catering provider
The school will have a new catering provider from September 2024. We are confident that this will lead to an increase in the quality of catering provision at the academy. Here’s a link to their introductory presentation.
New school ties
Year 9 students will receive their new ties on Monday in an assembly, swapping over their old tie for the new version. The same will happen for Years 7 and 8 on Wednesday next week when they also have a non-PE day. Students will be supported in assembly to tie their ties. Students who are receiving a clip-on tie will still be given the opportunity to take part, but their tutor will swap the new standard tie for a clip-on tie subtly at the end of the assembly so that as little attention as possible is draw to them.
Yours faithfully
Tony Meneaugh
Principal

Summer Charity Fundraiser
On Friday 5 July our student house representatives will be running a fun charity fundraising event at lunchtime. All the money will be donated to Little Miracles and Young Minds, two charities very close to the hearts of those at St Ivo, who have been chosen by our thoughtful and dedicated house representatives. Across the school site students will find teachers in stocks and a beat the goalie event. Crosier house will host a just-dance-a-thon in the hall while Leger will be singing their loudest at canteen karaoke. There will be cakes and homemade lemonade available to buy in addition to various competitions and prizes.
If students would like to take part in the event, we ask that they bring any spare change, events range in price from 50p to £1.
For more information on our charities and the work they do, please visit their websites.

Year 11 Prom
We are asking for some volunteers to help with the setup of the Burgess Hall on the day of the Prom. If any students are interested in helping Mr Hall and Miss Tabb, please can they arrive at around 12pm on Thursday 04/07/24. Students will only be required for a short period giving them chance to return home with plenty of time to get ready. If students wish to support, please can they email Mr Hall directly in advance.
Secondly, we just want to clarify that we will not be printing individual paper tickets for the Prom this year. Students need to simply bring themselves and they will be checked off of our attendee list when they arrive inside the atrium of the Burgess Hall.
Please also see below a reminder of mitigations put in place to allow the Prom to go ahead on the day of the general election:
- Time change – The Prom will run from 6.30pm to 9.30pm, instead of 7pm to 10pm. This will ensure that the venue is clear in advance of ballot boxes arriving to One Leisure.
- Student pick up – all students leaving the Prom will be directed to exit using the side doors to the Burgess Hall on to the school grounds and then across the school grounds for collection by parents/carers in the St Ivo staff car park on High Leys. Access to the One Leisure car park will be prohibited with only election vehicles authorised to gain access. Students will only be able to leave the venue through this exit and all student collections will take place via the staff car park on the High Leys exit whether by vehicle or by foot.
- Student drop off – we will operate a one-way system to ensure that vehicles dropping off students for the 6.30pm start can exit swiftly. Vehicles should use the Westwood Road entrance to One Leisure to drop off outside the Burgess Hall. Vehicles will then be directed to exit via the school ground using the service road and out through the High Leys exit.
