A-Level French (AQA 7652)
Course Overview
If you are interested in improving your linguistic skills and developing a greater understanding of how French speaking society has been shaped socially and culturally, and how it continues to change, then A-level French is for you.
French fosters a range of transferable skills including communication, critical thinking, research skills and creativity. You will study a range of contemporary social issues, including technological change and the diversity and the benefits it brings. You will also be looking at French speaking artistic culture, including music, cinema and political power, and its impact on youth culture. There will be opportunities to take part in trips abroad and experience university lectures.
A foreign language A-level will complement and enhance a whole variety of subjects, in particular students wishing to apply to Russell Group universities will benefit from having a language A-level alongside another facilitating subject, such as: mathematics, further mathematics, English Literature, physics, biology, chemistry, geography, and history.
The course is comprised of two written papers as well as a speaking exam based on individual research project of your choice.
You will study:
- Social issues and trends
- Political and artistic culture
- Grammar

“French A-level is a challenging but satisfying course – I have really enjoyed this year. Having a small group gives a great opportunity to learn well in lessons.”
