We have taken delivery of 30 brand new acoustic guitars, meaning all students in music lessons will have the chance to play an instrument. The grant, funded by Music For All, offers grants and equipment for small community projects and schools, and St Ivo were delighted to receive 30 three quarter sized instruments.

Mrs Miller, Music Teacher at St Ivo Academy said:

“I am delighted to be able to teach classes with 30 brand new instruments. I applied for the grant so that we could teach a whole class one instrument, and the guitar is a brilliant instrument for beginners to try out. We opted for three quarter sized, so that they’re more accessible to all students and I am very confident we will be able to make some fantastic music very soon.”

Ms Pearce, Principal at St Ivo Academy said:

“We are absolutely delighted to receive this generous grant from Music For All. Music plays an important role in school life at St Ivo, supporting creativity, confidence and communication, and these guitars will ensure that every student has the opportunity to experience learning an instrument first-hand. Providing inclusive access to music is something we feel strongly about, and we are excited to see our students develop new skills and a lifelong love of music.”

St Ivo will use the instruments across all years to encourage students to pick up and play guitar, encourage creativity and communication through engaging music lessons. There are no ‘strings’ attached to the grant, just that every student gets access to music making to help their development into well rounded citizens.
