This week
This week, the delicious aroma of freshly cooked food tempted teachers in to watch students preparing quesadillas. They both looked and smelt wonderful – we clearly have some very talented chefs in the making!
Our Head and Deputy Head of Sixth Form, are now certified in the use of the EvacChair and qualified to train others too. This important training means our team is fully prepared to support safe movement up and downstairs in an emergency.

Student Support
RISE
RISE have started working in partnership with our internal provision up at The Hub. For two days a week, RISE are working with a select number of students to offer pre-emptive therapeutic intervention. This is a student-centered approach, tailoring the coaching around the individual needs of each student. RISE focus on the strengths of each individual and help to set targets for upcoming lessons and periods of time. Students progress with these goals are then discussed each week, with the aim of building positive outcomes, and offering support towards these goals where required.
Mental Health Drop Ins
We have launched a Mental Health Drop-In, held every Wednesday lunchtime in Room 16. This is a safe and welcoming space where students can talk openly and without judgement. Alongside conversations, there will also be games and arts and crafts activities, including therapeutic drawing, all designed to create a calm and supportive environment.
Flu Vaccinations
Year 7 to 11 students are due to receive flu vaccinations on 6 and 20 October. Parents/carers are encouraged to consent for or decline the vaccine beforehand. The link to do this is Vaccination UK Bedfordshire Immunisation and more information can be found here.
Trips
A reminder to year 7 families that the Sutton Hoo trip (13 and 14 October) is available for payment on MCAS. Our aim is to have every year 7 child participating in this as their first St Ivo trip. If there are any barriers to participation then please get in touch.
Year 11 geographers also have their visit to Stratford, London coming up on 15/16/17 October. Payment can be made on MCAS. This fieldwork is a vital part of GCSE geography.
We also have two spaces available on the February ski trip, for years 8 to 13. Please get in touch if this may be of interest.
In response to parent/ carer feedback, we have published an indication of trips we offer and current prices. Details can be found here and on the school trips page here.
Year 6 Open Evening
We recently hosted a very successful Year 6 into Year 7 Open Evening. This year we proudly celebrated our best GCSE results to date (slide 10 of the PowerPoint, linked below) – a true reflection of our students’ dedication and the consistently high standards of teaching across the school. It has been inspiring to see the determination with which our pupils are striving to achieve the very best grades possible.
During the evening, we were delighted to welcome parents and carers from both within and beyond our catchment area. The evening began in a full hall with a warm welcome from Tony Meneaugh, who also gave a second address later in the evening. All parents and carers received a map, details of each department’s location, and the chance to win a year’s free uniform. If you are a Year 6 parent or carer and did not have the opportunity to scan the QR code, please see the information below.
Each department brought real enthusiasm to the event, showcasing the breadth of opportunities on offer. Visitors enjoyed a wide range of activities – from trampolining in PE to choosing their favourite firework colour in Science.
Please see Mr Meneaugh’s PowerPoint here.
If you are a year 6 parent and didn’t scan the QR code to enter the prize draw for free uniform, you can fill out for the form here – https://forms.office.com/e/ku5gpDB5Cs.
