Message from our Principal

It has been lovely to see the Year 7 and 8 students receive their results from their Spring exams this week. We design those exams to be useful practice for what it feels like to prepare and work towards a ‘performance’ of an exam. Equally, the feeling of what it feels like to receive their own results to see how they have performed, is a really lovely way to see them connect with their hard work and effort.

It was also great to see so many families attend our Year 9 Preferences evening last night. It was a really positive atmosphere, and also great to see so many students engaging with their futures and asking questions of staff. Please encourage them to keep doing so, so that they have all the information they need to make these important choices.

General Messages

Key Dates – Coming Soon

We are pleased to be launching a new Key Dates Calendar – coming soon. This will not replace our term dates calendar, but will provide additional information about upcoming events, school trips, and key assessment dates. We hope this will help you plan ahead and stay organised by giving plenty of notice for important dates, as we understand how busy family life can be.

National Offer Day

Monday 2nd March is National Offer Day — the day Year 6 families receive their secondary school offers. To support this important milestone, a new transition page will be available on our website from this day. Further information about the Principal’s Welcome events on 10th and 11th March will follow shortly after.

KS3 Assessment Results

This week, our Year 7 and Year 8 students received their assessment results in the same way they would during their final exams. This gave them their first taste of what it’s like to be in Year 11 and receive their results. We want to introduce this process early so that, when Year 11 examinations arrive, students feel fully prepared for every aspect of the experience.

Students began with a short assembly focused on achievement and preparing them for the futures they aspire to, followed by tutors handing out their results.

Year 9 Preference Evening

Thank you to all that attended our year 9 preference evening yesterday, it was great to see so many of our students, parents and carers present and engaging with teachers, not only preference subjects but core subjects too! You can find the preference booklet here where the course outline title, when clicked directs you to the subjects exam board specification for more information about the subjects content.

Please direct any questions to ks4preferences@astreastivo.org. We also encourage students to speak to their teachers in person if they have any additional queries.

We would love to hear from you if you have any feedback for the event so we can continuously improve our events – you can leave your feedback here.
