Message from our Principal
Many students may have noticed this week that some staff are moving offices around the school. The Heads of Year are moving out of their single pastoral office next to the library, and into individual year team offices along the main block ground floor corridor. This will help students have better individualised conversations with year team members, rather than in one large space which is shared by multiple year groups. Each door has a sign on for which year it belongs to, and this will be clarified with all students in morning welcome next week.
For September, there is also some movement within the year teams. The teams for September are below.
Year 7: Ms Weaver and Miss Collins/Mr Evans
Year 8: Ms Lewis and Miss Sanderson
Year 9: Mr Porter and Mrs Nestor
Year 10: Mr Kennedy and Mr Vine
Year 11: Mrs Nisbett and Ms Barnes
As students may be aware, Mr Smith is leaving us at the end of the year to move to a similar role in a school closer to home. He will be missed, and I know that the current Year 9 cohort will say a big thank you and goodbye at the end of the term. Mr Kennedy is joining that year as Head of Year, and has been working alongside Mr Smith in recent weeks to ensure a smooth transition.
A reminder to all Year 10 families about the year 10 into 11 information evening which will be held on the 13th July. Miss Sherwood has sent an email with further information about our offer of support in year 11 and an accompanying survey. It is a really great way to help students and families understand the additional pressures of Year 11, and how we as a school support students and families to ensure our students can be successful.
Looking at the weather next week, I would like to say that students do not need to wear a blazer at all next week, and we will review the temperatures as the week goes on. Looking at the forecast it look like it will get warmer as the week progresses, and will be in touch to clarify any updates around uniform.
Regarding uniform for September 26/27, there is an updated guidance document on our school website which we have designed to help students and families understand our uniform expectations. This is in line with the DfE guidance on the number of mandatory branded items a school can have as uniform. The link to the website can be found here.
Year 8 Switzerland so far!
109 year 8 students are now starting their return journey after a week of fun and adventurous activities in Switzerland. Students stayed in chalets in the beautiful alpine village on Torgon and explored to International Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Montreux town centre. They experienced water sports on Lake Geneva and enjoyed the high ropes in Aigle. Some students even hiked to a mountain lake! There were also numerous opportunities to enjoy a swim at the numerous local pool and waterpark facilities.

Year 8 Ninja Warrior and National History Museum
Year 8 students who did not attend the Switzerland trip has two opportunities this week to also go on a trip! We discovered 3 exhibits at National History Museum; earthquakes and volcano, fixing out broken planet and the dinosaurs exhibit. Students then sat outside to have lunch in the nature garden. We then travelled Milton Keynes trip to ninja warrior had two hours of burning energy through different obstacles and inflatables. Students then enjoyed a lunch together before heading back to school!

Water Safety Assemblies
All students had a water safety assembly with our local firefighter and booklets from River and Canal trust to teach them how to stay safe around water. We thank Firefighter Joe from Cambs Fire Service for delivering fantastic Water Safety assemblies at St Ivo Academy and that we hope to welcome him soon again.
