Message from our Principal
While lessons continue as normal, we are also busy preparing for our Open events which are happening over the next few weeks.
We start with our St Ivo Sixth Form Open Evening which takes place on Thursday 1st October. If you are the parents of a Year 11 or Year 10 student, we are inviting you to come along and learn more about our Sixth Form facilities; hear from me and our Sixth Form Leadership team, Mr Braybrook and Mrs Webster and also some of our Year 12 students, and also talk to subject teachers. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about what we offer here at St Ivo.
On the 15th October is our Open Evening for Year 6 entry, so please come along if you have children in Year 6 or Year 5 – it’s another opportunity to have a look around the school, meet with teachers and current students. I will be visiting lots of local primaries over the next few weeks to speak with Year 6 students to give them a taster of what they might experience on Open Evening. We will also be asking lots of current students to support us with this event, so please look out for any permission slips that come home.
We have been lucky enough to secure some additional site-based funding from Astrea, so there are a few additional improvement works taking place in school at the moment, such as new external lights and new flooring. While we aim to avoid day time work, there may be some corridors which are out of action at points during the school day, but we will make sure these are well signposted and will let students know any updates each day.
Upcoming Events

Year 8 and 9 Girls Football
Well done to our U14 girls football team who won 3-1 in a National Cup first round – goals from Ella, Lou and Ava! They were the first team to try out their new sponsored kit – more on this in next weeks newsletter! Our U13 team will play on Tuesday!
Filbert’s Walk Footpath
We have been contacted by Hemingford Grey Parish Council and asked to draw attention to the dangers of cycling on Filbert’s Walk footpath. The path is narrow, has deep ditches alongside much of its length, and can become hazardous for both cyclists and pedestrians. The Parish Council has reminded us that cycling is not permitted on this footpath and has installed additional signage to reinforce this message. If your child uses Filbert’s Walk on their journey to and from school, please remind them to dismount and walk their bike along the path. Thank you for helping us keep all members of the community safe.
Use of AI in Assessments
The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) has released updated guidance on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in assessments. We encourage students and parents/carers to familiarise themselves with this guidance to ensure AI is used appropriately and in line with examination regulations. The student guidance documents are available via the newsletter, and all students in Years 10, 11, 12 and 13 will also receive a printed copy of the AI guidance posters.

UCAS Exhibition
Our Year 12 students enjoyed their visit to the UCAS exhibition where they have the opportunity to speak to Universities prior to submitting their applications and find out more about the process.
