Message from our Principal
I’m delighted to share with you that August 2026 was the best exam results St Ivo has had in a decade.
Our average grade (based across 8 GCSEs) has increased to a 5, and our results for student achievement in English and Maths have also increased. 72% of students achieved a grade 4 or above in both English and Maths, with 57% of students achieving grade 5 or above in both subjects, and 21% achieving 7 or above in both subjects. We are so proud of what our students have achieved, and particularly delighted that so many have chosen to join us in our sixth form.
Our A Level results were also excellent, with some stand-out results for some students and all students going off to the post-18 course or placement of their choice.
School of course, is not all about results, but also about making memories and learning new skills. It has been so lovely this week to be able to share our new clubs list with you, to which we have added lots of new clubs since last year. Our adoption of a single lunch (still in pilot stage) means that all students have access to all of our enrichment opportunities at lunchtimes, which is such an important part of belonging to our school community.
All students have had assemblies this week from Mrs Palmer who has talked about how participating in enrichment activities has so many benefits; meeting new people; trying something new and discovering a talent in something unexpected. There are also a range of ‘study’ opportunities in different departments at lunch time, including GCSE HQ which is open every lunchtime to Year 11 students. Students who join lunchtime clubs can jump the queue in the canteen.
Thank you to all Year 7 families who attended our tutor event last night, it was great to hear how well Year 7s have settled into the school.

General Updates

Dreamdrops Fundraiser
As many of you will remember, last July we organised a fundraising event where students could pick activities of their choice. These included Sponge the Teacher, the Ice Bucket Challenge, poetry, dancing, cakes and lemonade, and much more!
The event was a fantastic success, raising £1,943 for Dreamdrops. Following the fundraising day, Christine, Chair of Dreamdrops, visited our Student Council to express her gratitude. During this visit, and at the request of our students, it was agreed that a portion of the funds would be reinvested into our SEND department.
We are now delighted to officially say thank you for the wonderful equipment that has been provided, including reading pens, sensory items, iPads, beanbags, and much more. These resources will make a real difference to our students.
Thank you to everyone who took part, supported the event, and helped make this possible!
Town Council – Young People Survey
🛹This survey is from Huntingdonshire District Council, and is asking for views on Hill Rise Skate Park, particularly from young people who use the ramps themselves. “We are looking at the possibility of replacing some of the older ramps in the future, and people’s views on the park and we would really value their input on what they would like to see included in any new or improved facilities. Any thoughts, ideas or feedback from the young users would be greatly appreciated and would help us understand what would best meet their needs.” Survey here: Hill Rise Skate Park, St Ives – Visitor survey
🗳️”The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport(DCMS) is exploring how the youth sector and youth services can better support young people’s participation in democracy and decision-making following the publication of Youth Matters and the upcoming Votes at 16 legislation. We want to hear from as many young people as possible, particularly those whose voices are not always heard. Your views will help us understand what is already working well, where barriers exist, and where Government could better support young people’s participation outside formal education settings.” Survey here: Youth Democracy Engagement Survey
