A-Level Textiles and Fashion (EDEXCEL 9TEO)
Course Overview
This diverse and fascinating course aims to develop your fashion and textile techniques, creative and intellectual skills along with the ability to analyse contextual references, using written annotation.
The A-level textiles and fashion course consists of two components, both internally assessed and externally moderated, a thematic practical project and an essay of 1500 – 3000 words which relates to the contextual research within the practical work.
Component 2 is externally set and thematically based. It is advantageous to be able to work with a sewing machine at home, but it is not essential. It is very important to be equipped with a box of textile tools and materials.
An A-level in textiles and fashion is excellent preparation for higher education courses in subjects such as fashion design, textiles, interior design, fine art, illustration, and decorative arts. There will normally be opportunities to visit galleries and the Stitch and Knit exhibition.

“The course offers me the chance to learn a wide variety of fashion and textile skills. I can express myself creatively and it exposes me to the possibility of working in the fashion and design related industry.”
