Message from the Principal
“It has been a really positive week at St Ivo, with Year 7, 8, and 9 students finishing their assessments. Their behaviour and attitude towards taking exams in this more formal way has been excellent, and they have approached these assessments with real maturity and determination. When all the papers are marked, students will be receiving their results in a ‘Results event’ as we do for older years, which gives them a chance to see how they have done before the report comes home to families. We find that students really enjoy getting their results back in this way so we are extending it to all year groups this year, and it enables them to be really clear on what they need to work on.
We have our Year 10 Work Experience launch event on Monday 19th January at 6pm-6.45pm. This is a really key event to familiarise students and families with the process of Work Experience and how students can find a placement that they can be really excited about. I look forward to seeing as may families there as possible, thank you for your support with this. The following day, during school on Tuesday 20th, is our Careers Fair, where we have invited a huge range of businesses and education providers to meet with students, and all year groups are visiting the fair during the day – so please do ask your child who they spoke to what they learned from it, as it promises to be an amazing opportunity for our students.”

General Updates
Revision Focus
French and German oral examinations will begin on 19 January, with all other subjects starting from 26 January.
To support preparation, teaching staff have set revision homework on Bromcom, which students should be completing regularly. In addition, students should be making full use of their knowledge organiser folders and any other revision materials provided in lessons.
We would like to remind students and families that our key revision focus is Active Recall. This includes strategies such as:
- Look–Cover–Write–Check
- Flashcards
- Mind maps
These techniques are proven to strengthen memory and understanding, helping students to revise more effectively.
Thank you for your continued support during this important revision period.
This exam timetable has been given out to students, this is how they would receive it from the exam board for their final exams. We have provided it in this format to support students in learning the layout.

- Finally, now that the My Choice 16 deadline has passed, we have received a huge number of applications from Year 11 students to join our sixth form in 2026, which we are incredibly pleased about. We will be meeting with every student who made an application shortly to discuss their choices, prior to offer letters being sent out, this is likely to be after the upcoming mocks have been completed. All students who made an application will receive a conditional place offer, in line with meeting the general sixth form and subject specific entry criteria in the summer.
