Message from our Principal

“It was brilliant to visit the Careers Fair on Tuesday and see our students engaging so positively with all the people who were on the stands. Students were asking questions very articulately and giving a really positive account of themselves to the visitors. There were a range of industries, companies and universities present to speak to students about what they offer and to help students develop their understanding of the world of further education and work.

Our Year 11 students begin their final set of Mock Exams next week. It is their final chance to ‘practise’ doing exams in the formal setting before the real and final exams begin in May, and I would like to take this opportunity to wish them the best of luck with their exams. Year 11 students receive ‘Just in Time’ focused 20-minute revision sessions just before each exam – and they are also provided with breakfast for these in the morning – to help them get into exam mindset and for teachers to remind them of key exam information and technique. These are really valuable sessions; thank you to families for supporting to get students into school a little earlier than usual for these vital sessions, and for your overall support during this exam period. Good luck Year 11!”

General Updates

Careers and Aspirations Fair

All students attended the Careers and Aspirations Fair today, where they had the opportunity to meet future employers, post-16 providers, and explore a wide range of roles across different industries. There were exciting hands-on activities such as windsurfing lessons and pencil laser engraving, alongside many other interactive experiences. Students spoke with exhibitors about their potential aspirations and left with mementos to remember the day, making it an inspiring and informative event for everyone involved!

Carousel homework platform – planned changes

Carousel Learn which is our platform for homework and revision will be moving to a MS single sign on for students rather then access only via links set by teachers.

This brings lots of benefits such as:

  • One login to remember – no juggling lots of usernames and passwords
  • Less frustration – kids get into learning apps faster
  • Fewer lockouts – fewer forgotten passwords
  • Safer logins – passwords aren’t shared or written down
  • More learning time – less time logging in, more time learning
  • Easier at home & school – same login works everywhere
  • Less parent support needed – fewer “I can’t log in” moments

The platform will be available via MS SharePoint and our website.

These updates are planned and further guidance with be shared in due cause.
