Message from our Principal
It has been a great first full week back in school here at St Ivo. We have had a number of updates for this September; phone pouches being the major one that has started this term. Students have been brilliant at getting into our new routines of showing their pouch as they enter the site and during morning welcome. When a student has forgotten their pouch they are able to ask their SSA or Head of Year at Morning Welcome, and we have a number of spares that they can borrow for the day. We have explained to students that there is no sanction attached to forgetting their pouch; we understand that accidents happen. They need to borrow one for the day and then return it as they leave in the afternoon. I would also like to add that there has been a real joy shown by lots of students as they unlock their pouches at the end of the day. Not just being able to access their phone but also using the magnetic devices to unlock the pouch; I have heard lots of amazed comments about seeing science in action!
As the weather is still lovely, many students have removed their blazers and their PE jumpers, meaning that we have had a number of these items left all over the school, with no names. A plea from me is to make sure you write your child’s name on any item of uniform they bring to school – especially removable items such as blazers PE jumpers and coats. While I know our students might seem a bit old for this, we have many items of school uniform in our lost property; tens of water bottles, probably hundreds of pounds of coats as well. If you think your child may have lost an item at school, please contact the school office and they can have a look in our lost property areas.
Thank you to all of our Year 11 students and families who came to our information evening yesterday, I hope you found it informative. Ms Sherwood will be sharing the presentation with all families. If you have any questions about help and support in Year 11 please contact Mrs Nisbet, Miss Barnes or Miss Sherwood. – we are all very much here to help.
General updates
- Reminder that there should be no parent drop off at the High Leys entrance
- This week we have experienced intermittent issues with our phone lines and we are working with our providers to make sure that is a priority matter to get this resolved ASAP. If you are unable to reach reception by phone, please email reception@astreastivo.org.
- We are in the process of updating all Knowledge Organisers on the website, please bare with us whilst we do this
Clubs and Activities
We are delighted to announce our new clubs and activities timetable that begins on Monday 14th September. We are now operating a single lunchtime and therefore are able to run more clubs across the school! We now have 38 lunchtime clubs, 3 break time clubs/independent spaces open and 13 after-school clubs! (you can find the link to clubs and activities at the top of the newsletter each week).
Student Achievements
We want parents and carers to let us know about the amazing things that our students are achieving outside of school!
This week our spotlights are Harry, Christian and Ashton!

Well done to Harry who is now back to back champion in Junior British Masters and the St Andrews WAGR World Series. Later this year he will compete in Spain and Scotland as well as in the World Championships! We look forward to seeing his successes!
Well done to Christian in Year 7 who completed the cycling event Tour of the Cornfields in Cambridgeshire where he and his dad cycled 100km off road around the east anglia countryside!
He was the only young people that did this event. Organisers were very surprised at the challenge for a 11 year old!

Congratulations to Ashton who has achieved their Radio Operator Training through the RAF Cadets.
After moving country in 2025, Ashton has shown resilience and commitment through difficult times. He joined the RAF Cadets and has since qualified in radio operator training! Keep up the great work!
